Welcoming Megan & Kim to New Zealand
This week Tim and I had some American company. Megan and her friend Kim have been traveling all around the world and one of their stops in New Zealand. They came down from
Auckland and had dinner at my house. They have a typical kiwi meal with meat and potatoes which was interesting because Kim is a vegetarian. Anyway, she managed. The next day I took the day off and played tour guide around Rotorua. I took them to Ohinamutu and told them a bit about the Maori Culture here in New Zealand. Then they decide they wanted to do the ZORB. They had seen the ZORB on the real world and thought they should definitely give it a try. After many questions about how the ZORB works and how much water is in the ZORB, we finally made it to the home of the ZORB. And within a few minutes they were tumbling down the hill, laughing the whole way down the hill. They loved it and claimed it has been a highlight of their whole trip.
We headed out to a thermal park reserve and got a glimpse at the thermal activity that Rotorua is know for. Then we met Tim to have a dinner at Fat Dog. We had eaten so much food at Fat dog that we decided to go on a walk in the Redwood Forrest to search for the glow worms. We took Pete, an American that is living in the cottage on the back of the property.
We convinced them to stay a second night and they headed off to Wellington early in the morning. They have plans to make it all the way down to Queenstown and we gave them a few tips of what not to miss while in New Zealand. Megan and Kim next week will be heading to Fiji, to enjoy some sun. I'm so jealous!
